How to Choose A Doctor

  • Experience, Training Is All-Important

Improving the appearance of scars is a challenging problem to treat. It’s important to choose a physician who’s had considerable training and experience in this area. It’s also important that you select a doctor who is willing to discuss all your treatment options—and the results you can realistically expect from each of them.

Questions to Ask When Choosing a Doctor:

    • Are you a board-certified physician?
    • What is your medical speciality?
    • How much training and experience have you had in performing the procedure you are recommending?
    • What are all my treatment options for my scar?
    • How many of these options (such as different types of lasers) do you have access to?
    • May I see some "before" and "after" patient photos for the treatment you’re recommending?
    • Are the results I want realistic?
    • How much downtime do I need to prepare for from the procedure you’re recommending?
    • How much will the procedure cost?
    • What are the possible side effects and complications?
